Cornelia Frances was born in Liverpool, England and began her career at London's Guildhall School of Music and Drama where she trained for two years. Cornelia emigrated to Australia in 1965.
Cornelia is a familiar face to Australian television, with highly acclaimed roles in a long list of dramas that have graced our screens for more than three decades.
Some of these include Prisoner, as the unforgettable Sister Scott in Young Doctors, Skyways, as Barbara Armstrong in Sons and Daughters, Kingswood Country and most recently as Morag Bellingham in Home and Away.
Cornelia starred in a number of Crawford Productions police dramas, which include Cop Shop, Homicide, Division 4, Matlock, Boney and Ryan. Also Cornelia has starred in ABC television productions such as Bellamy, The Outsiders, Certain Women, Burke and Wills, Essington and Dynasty. She also starred in a children's series Lost Islands.
In 1967 Cornelia returned to the UK and whilst there, appeared in a number of stage productions at The Watermill Theatre and The Theatre Royal in Bath. She returned to Australia in 1970.
She has also appeared in numerous productions at Sydney's Footbridge, Belvoir and Ensemble Theatres. Cornelia also appeared as Violet in the highly acclaimed stage play Steaming, which toured nationally and in New Zealand.
Cornelia's film credits include The Box – Movie where she worked alongside Graeme Kennedy, Crack In The Curtains, Outback, The Man From Snowy River II, Outbreak of Hostilities, All At Sea and Last Rights, to name a few.
Cornelia is also remembered for the formidable Chairperson of the reality TV show, The Weakest Link.
