What happened in the week of Monday 29th September to Friday 3rd October

Hello All,

Well! Quite a bit going on this week around Summer Bay! Aden went to court this week. He actually fired his lawyer right in court! He really didn’t want to bring up the issue of his past about his grandfather abusing him, and when Belle took the stand and began speaking about it, his lawyer went on to proceed and asked her more questions about his abuse. Aden just fired him right then and there. Roman said he tried to talk some sense into him about how it’s really to his benefit that the issue be brought up, but Aden didn’t want to hear any of it. After he said he didn’t want Morag to represent him and that he’d do it himself the next day, Morag showed up the day of court ready to represent him. I think Aden felt grateful that she pushed so hard for him. He agreed to have her be his lawyer, but only under his conditions. Morag insisted that if he felt uncomfortable or if she took anything too far, all he had to say was “I don’t recall” and she would back off.

During the trial, his abusive past was brought up. After an emotional pause on Aden’s behalf, he went on to talk about his past. Roman said it was an extremely emotional moment. I guess Aden and Belle had their eyes glued to each other the entire time he told the story. She’s really that strength and support he needs. With consideration of his past, the judge ruled Aden guilty of kidnapping but not guilty of attempted murder. He got off with 100 hours of community service and no jail time. Thank God. Even after everything he did, he doesn’t deserve to be in jail. I think it’s pretty obvious that he knows he was in the wrong, too.

The tension between Morag and Charlie seems to just be getting worse and worse! It’s got to be hard for Charlie, seeing as Morag and Ross just got married and she’s new in his life, but Morag is his wife. They just have such opposite views about what’s right and wrong in taking care of him. Charlie actually has Ross staying with us right now, only for a couple days I guess. The way she turned the house all around to suite him though you’d think he was never leaving. Ross wanted to just give Morag a break he said though, and insists he’s going back with her after this weekend.

Ruby has just been even more on edge lately than ever with Ross living with her. I don’t think it’s what she needs right now to see her father like that all the time. She was telling Charlie how it’s a parent’s job to watch over the kids, not the other way around. I know she loves him, but I can completely see where she’s coming from. That’s got to be hard on her. I don’t know if it was because of the stress she’s been going through lately or if she’s just “growing up”, but she actually went out to a beach party with an older crew this week. Annie and Jai tried to get her to leave with them, but she wanted nothing of it. She was drinking quite a bit there I guess. It’s kind of odd actually…I guess Matthew ended up taking her home. She was quite hostile towards him, but he was pretty set on making sure she got home okay. Actually, now that I think about it, Ruby’s been saying that Matthew’s been being really generous towards her lately. I wonder if that’s all just an act or if he’s genuinely concerned about Rubs?

You will not believe what happened to poor Melody this week! Her mother actually tried to perform an exorcism on her!!! Oh dear God someone needs to seriously do something for that girl. Her mother is definitely just making things 100 times worse than they are. Miles and Geoff went to save Melody while her mother was trying to perform that exorcism on her. They took her back to Miles’ place for the time being. Miles was telling me Melody said she definitely didn’t want to go back home and she seems to be getting on well there. Good for her, she needs a bit of normalcy in her life!

Kirsty had her first day at The Sands this week. She was all set for her interview, and got a call that she was going to do a “trial day” at the bar. I guess she lied on her CV and claimed to know her way around a bar, when she really doesn’t. Her first day didn’t end up going well, either. She ended up short changing an important customer and left that day knowing she wasn’t going to be getting the job. Things did turn up for her though. They ended up offering her a job as a part-time house keeper. She said she was thrilled to have gotten any job opportunity. Good on her. I’m glad things seem to be finally looking up for her.

Belle was approached by an older woman at the Diner this week. Turned out her husband, who was sick in the hospital, heard of Belle’s quest against the development and had some interesting news. He used to work for the council during the time the toxic waste was dumped and was one of the few who actually knew about it! I guess he said he was threatened with serious repercussions if he ever spoke out about it. He decided since he’s sick in the hospital now anyways, and they’re actually building on the land, it was time to come clean. Belle went straight to Angelo so he could take an official statement, but they got to the hospital only to find out the man had just had a stroke and it was too late.

Someone actually threw a brick through Angelo’s windshield! Belle had the car at the time, and while she was convinced it was Aden, after fingerprints were taken, it was proved it wasn’t. I have no idea who would want to hurt her though. Quite frankly I’m a little worried about it. Hopefully nothing else like this happens again.

Dane came back to pick Joe up this week—without Lee. Bad news for Rach was that he planned to take him with him up north to go to her. He’s convinced if she sees Joe in person, she’ll have to come back to them. Rach is all distressed about this. I probably would be too, though. She cares so much about him, and Dane isn’t the most responsible person. I hope he doesn’t do anything to jeopardise Joe’s health. That would be just too sad.

Alright, I’ve actually got to run to my shift at the Diner. I’ll have to fill you guys in next week on how things are going with Kirsty and her new job. I sure hope that ends up working out for her!!

With Love,
Leah

p.s.-I just got word from Miles that Melody just told her mother she wants to divorce her and her father!! I’ll let you in on all the details next week!
